2013 Petite Sirah Estate Vineyard - Saint Helena

We were fortunate enough to purchase a small vineyard from our neighbors, the St. George family, where heritage vine Petite Sirah had been lovingly farmed for  decades.  True to the traditionalists, blending was done in the field, so there is an occasional Carignane, Durif, or Alicante vine scattered throughout. Located off Sulphur Creek on low fertility Cortina soils, productivity on these sixty year old vines will never begin to equal farming effort. We affectionately say that every vine counts but few winemakers have the opportunity to work with vines of this parentage and age. The 2013 is a sublime vintage layered with wild strawberry, dried sage, and saddle leather. The vines have become so comfortable on this rocky site, their attributes are unique and the resulting wine mouthwatering.  Unfined and unfiltered, we recommend decanting this young wine.  CCOF certified organic.
