NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2009

The 2009 vintage is amongst a trio-2009, 2010, 2011- where cooler than average summer temperatures set the stage for wines of balance and varietal character. This bottling is defined by lush moderate tannins, layered with cardamom, dried cranberry, and black tea. A pleasure to drink early because of its fruit intensity, this vintage is also destined to age gracefully. Small lots allow for flexibility in fermentation methods-a combination of barrel fermentation and small tanks. I favor hand punch-downs, gentle extraction, and good acidity-and strive to make wines that are interesting and true to the site and vintage. I am fortunate to work with farmers Mike Wolf and Phil Coturri who lend their talents and impeccable care in the vineyards.
